Enchanted Christmas Ballet Giveaway

CIDE is a valued partner of DelightStuck Jen.

For three days every December, Central Indiana Dance Ensemble (CIDE) brings the holidays to life with five performances of Tchaikovsky’s magical Christmas ballet. This year's show is December 14-16, 2018 at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center.

Guests of the show are transported to the Land of Sweets where a cast of characters that includes the Arabian Coffee, Rose, Mother Ginger and her Ginger Snaps and, of course, Sugar Plum Fairy, all delight young Clara and her Nutcracker Prince with spirited dances and iconic, classical ballet variations.

CIDE's, a pre-professional dance company under the direction of Artistic Director Suzann DeLay,  holiday tradition of The Nutcracker has become a holiday must-do for our family. They really bring the holidays to life in such a magical way.

And let's face it the holidays can get so expensive, and it can be hard to afford all the holiday performances you'd like to treat the family to - like Yuletide, the Ballet at Clowes Hall and holiday shows at the Old National Centre or the Palladium.

I think that is one of the reasons I love CIDE's performances of The Nutcracker. It's as enchanting as any professional performance I've ever seen at Clowes or the like, but it's so much more affordable and you are supporting local student dancers right in your own "backyard." Tickets are $25 for adults and $18 for students 18 and under. There is a Sugar Plum Fairy Dessert Party you can add on for $12 per child that is held prior to the matinee shows.

With tickets that affordable our family can add a fun holiday dinner out after our matinee or before an evening performance too, and make a whole day or evening of it. I kind of love getting the kiddos dressed up for a Christmas outing, don't you?!

Be sure to be on the lookout for the little bits of humor they throw in the show too. My kids and husband still rave about the Rat King from a couple year's back.

Giveaway Alert! Indiana friends only, comment on the blog or my FB post with your favorite part of The Nutcracker (or if you've never seen, why you'd love to go) and be entered to win a family four pack of tickets for an evening performance of CIDE's Nutcracker.

Random winner selected on Friday November 9, 2018 at 5 p.m. and notified by email.

My Greatest Challenge | Faith Friday

My nephew texted earlier this week and asked if he could interview me for a homework project. Little did I know the question coming wasn't an easy one, and it would bring tears and hard memories. He said he was supposed to ask someone over 30 and not his parents about the biggest challenge in their life. I advised I'd need a bit to think on that. It didn't take long. I was able to pinpoint it easily. Infertility. Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a mom. I never knew it wouldn't come easy. Coach Man and I struggled for five years to have a child. During our struggle, I often couldn't understand why God was withholding my heart's desires and how other women, made a choice, and just threw away the gift of motherhood like no biggie. What I would have given for that child that they didn't want. Hey, girl, over here! Give it to me. I'll love the heck out of that baby! Really, I will. During those years, all I could see around me was pregnan

Word of the Year: Conquer

As a writer, I adore words. I always have, even as a little girl. They're like old friends to me. My 2019 word of the year is conquer, along with two supporting words - contemplate and celebrate. The three together may seem random and odd, but to me they all go hand in hand with the growth I have in mind for this year. 2018 was a year full of hard things. No worse than any other people's hard things, but still hard things. We moved, a new job for Coach Man, new schools for the hooligans, navigating a new high deductible insurance plan that does not cover insulin for the type 1 diabetic in the family (#insulin4all - but we'll chat that in another blog, because oh do I have some things to say), a health discovery for one of the kiddos and a major medical issue for Coach Man right before Christmas. It was definitely a year that kept us on our toes, but also a year filled with joy as we tackled the hurdles head on and with purpose. Well, we are a football family, so tack
