Oh No, The Pool Shrunk | Goldfish Swim School Carmel

Goldfish Swim School is a valued partner of DelightStruck Jen (and The Lou, aka Baby Girl), and we kind of love being able to share our swim story with you. Happy reading.

A couple of swim practices ago The Lou noted that the in her opinion the pool had shrunk! No we aren't hanging out with Rick Moranis for another silly sequel, The Lou has gotten stronger and increased her speed over the months. When the whole length of the pool once seemed daunting to her, she now glides up and down it with ease, working on her strokes. Yes, in her view, a once huge body of water has shrunk down to size.

I love sitting on the other side of the glass and watching her swim. It makes me smile. I love her confidence and her desire to constantly improve, even on the nights when she's a little worn out from her school day. She's got goals and a dream to swim for the Carmel Swim Team when she's older, and that keeps her pushing herself. Not me, not her coach, but her. She drives it all. Peeps, perpetual lessons really take your kiddo places! Her swim potential was always in there. Goldfish Swim School brought it out and let it shine.

I love the environment at Goldfish Swim School. I love the whole process. She adores her classes and the quarterly swim meets. She loves the pool. The always 90 degree shiver-free water. Her teachers - they all are pretty amazing. And just plain swimming. A fish indeed. She wishes we could go daily! Now, daily might not be possible, but MORE definitely is... they make it so easy.

For example, tonight is a family swim. It's almost every Friday night! Why not make your family's Friday night rock? Since it's October, there's a not-so-spooky theme for open swim! Cost is $5/person or $15/family. Pre-registration is required. Please call us at 317-810-0790 or email swimcarmel@goldfishss.com

Have a birthday coming up? Did you know Goldfish Swim School hosts birthday parties all year round? My bud Sierra from Eclectic Kurves just had an EPIC one there for her little. Check out her recap here.

My Greatest Challenge | Faith Friday

My nephew texted earlier this week and asked if he could interview me for a homework project. Little did I know the question coming wasn't an easy one, and it would bring tears and hard memories. He said he was supposed to ask someone over 30 and not his parents about the biggest challenge in their life. I advised I'd need a bit to think on that. It didn't take long. I was able to pinpoint it easily. Infertility. Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a mom. I never knew it wouldn't come easy. Coach Man and I struggled for five years to have a child. During our struggle, I often couldn't understand why God was withholding my heart's desires and how other women, made a choice, and just threw away the gift of motherhood like no biggie. What I would have given for that child that they didn't want. Hey, girl, over here! Give it to me. I'll love the heck out of that baby! Really, I will. During those years, all I could see around me was pregnan

Word of the Year: Conquer

As a writer, I adore words. I always have, even as a little girl. They're like old friends to me. My 2019 word of the year is conquer, along with two supporting words - contemplate and celebrate. The three together may seem random and odd, but to me they all go hand in hand with the growth I have in mind for this year. 2018 was a year full of hard things. No worse than any other people's hard things, but still hard things. We moved, a new job for Coach Man, new schools for the hooligans, navigating a new high deductible insurance plan that does not cover insulin for the type 1 diabetic in the family (#insulin4all - but we'll chat that in another blog, because oh do I have some things to say), a health discovery for one of the kiddos and a major medical issue for Coach Man right before Christmas. It was definitely a year that kept us on our toes, but also a year filled with joy as we tackled the hurdles head on and with purpose. Well, we are a football family, so tack
